Imprint the community with God's reputation Joe and Katie Higgins New Hope The words invite, play and share come to mind as we remember our time serving at the Mission to Our City park outreach last summer. Our family of five joined a team of other Evergreen New Hope volunteers for an afternoon of fun at Simms Park. We were reminded quickly of how powerful a simple invitation to "come play" can be. Our children invited other kids at the park to have ice cream and to play basketball, kickball and volleyball while my husband invited residents of a nearby apartment building to come check out all the happenings in the park that day. These simple invitations led to smiles and laughter as well as conversations. Joe and I had the opportunity to listen as a young women shared her struggle with ongoing illness and health concerns that made it difficult for her to work. This conversation led to another invitation ~ the invitation to pray together. It's pretty neat when an invitation to "come play" turns into an opportunity to say, "let's Pray".
You will be happy to know that much of our church parking lot is getting replaced right now. Thanks for toughing out the giant pot holes for so long. And thanks to all that have contributed to Evergreen through the years. Your generosity allows us to do so much direct ministry to people and allows us to maintain our building and property, which we believe are valuable tools for our mission.

Unity Oneness and Closeness by Vicki Stanley (Evergreen Lakeville) There really has been nothing better than being on mission with my children, grandchildren and church family these last few summers. It draws us closer together, it teaches us how to be more effective for the cause of Christ, and it is so much fun! Last summer was no exception. I was impressed again with the reality that when we simply make ourselves available to God He does amazing things in us and through us. I was unexpectedly able to share the gospel with the father of a friend in church through an unexpected unusual situation…a dog bite of all things…ouch! But this was truly the opportunity I had asked God for that morning to have the time to share in detail with this man. The evangelism portion of this event is one of my favorite parts because it really is a grand adventure in the battle for the souls of men. I go into that battle with fear…and God meets me/us there every time. What will happen this summer as we make ourselves available to God? I I can’t wait to find out! I hope to see you there. (And I hope that this year a dog bite isn’t part of the adventure. 😀)

Every Person Experiences God in a New Way By Nicole Riggs (Evergreen New Hope) During Mission to Our City in 2018 I was part of the team that did free car washes. My focus was to pray for people while their car was being washed by others. I had the absolute pleasure of connecting and praying with many hurting people from our church neighborhood. It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know the real hurts and real needs of the people in our communities. Our tween boys and my parents also participated in this encouraging time, and it was wonderful to be able to serve as a family. MTOC is an amazing time of outreach to experience God in a new and special way. It is our chance to stand side by side with our fellow believers and neighbors to create unity, oneness and closeness. There is something for everyone. Please consider being part of Mission to Our City in 2019! Come have fun with us and enjoy what God is doing! #evergreenonmission
